“Counting Our Blessings”
“Counting our blessings” is more than a sweet phrase.
It is a spiritual practice that resets our hearts toward God.
Counting our blessings helps us recognize the gifts we already have and reminds us to focus on the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation of shadow of turning.
When we count our blessings we are choosing to see God’s hand in our everyday lives. We are choosing to trust His heart even when we can not trace His hand.
God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways.
(Isaiah 55:8–9)
To count our blessings, we must shift our perspective from what the world says we lack to what God has already provided.
If we let social media, comparison, or the constant noise of the news determine our contentment, we will live in a life of “never enough.”
Counting our blessings breaks that cycle. It lifts our eyes from what is missing to what is already overflowing.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus, for you.
God gives us what we need for each day. Strength for today, hope for tomorrow, and mercy that renews every morning. When we acknowledge our blessings, we are declaring, “Father, You are God over all. You are my Provider and my Sustainer.”
Even in hard seasons, blessings are present.
They may be quieter, smaller, or hidden beneath the weight of our circumstances but they are there.
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want. (Psalm 23:)
David understood this deeply. This scripture was not written from a peaceful meadow but from a life surrounded by enemies, danger, and uncertainty.
Yet David counts his blessings.
God leads him, God restores him, God protects him, God comforts him, God prepares a table for him, and God follows him with goodness and mercy
Counting our blessings does not deny the storm we are in. It declares that God is with us in that storm.
Prayer journals, answered prayers, and even small memories of God’s goodness become stones of remembering our blessings, and they remind us that the God who helped us before will help us again.
Looking back strengthens our faith to look forward.
If we find ourselves searching for joy, peace, or fulfillment, pause, take a breath and count our blessings.
From the air in our lungs to the people we love, from sunrise to sleep, and even through the night.
Every good thing comes from God. Every blessing is a reminder of oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for the countless blessings You pour into our lives, seen and unseen, big and small.
Teach us to slow down, to notice, and to give thanks.
Shift our perspective when we become distracted by comparison or discouraged by circumstances.
Remind us that You hold us in Your hand and provide everything we need for each day.
Fill our hearts with gratitude that strengthens our faith, lifts our spirits, and draws us closer to You.
May we count our blessings, speak our blessings, and then become a blessing to others.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
