“The Remnant”
From Genesis to Revelation, God consistently preserves a small group of faithful people who cling to Him when the world grows dark. This group is called the “Remnant”- those who remain, endure, and hold fast.
The remnant is not defined by perfection, strength, or numbers. The remnant is defined by their faithfulness. They are the quiet, steady thread of God’s story.
“God always keeps a people for Himself.”
The word remnant simply means what remains- the portion that is left after shaking, testing, or judgment.
But spiritually, it means something deeper. The remnant is the group that stays faithful to God when many others turn away.
The remnant is usually always smaller than the crowd… A faithful few.
The remnant is a preserved people…
God protects them for His purposes.
The remnant is God’s way of showing that truth does not depend on majority.
It depends on faithfulness.
Heres a few examples of the remnant through the Bible:
Noah- A remnant saved through obedience. When the world was filled with corruption, God preserved eight souls who walked with Him.They were not the strongest, they were simply faithful.
Abraham- A remnant chosen to carry the Promise. God’s covenant moved forward through a small, faithful line.
Even when nations fell into idolatry, God kept a remnant to preserve His promise.
Elijah- A remnant hidden by God.
Elijah felt alone, but God told him:
“I have reserved seven thousand who have not bowed to Baal.” A remnant existed even when it seemed invisible.
The Exiles- A remnant returning to rebuild. After judgment, only a small group returned to Jerusalem. They rebuilt the temple, the walls, and the worship of God.
Jesus’ Followers- A remnant who stayed. Crowds followed Jesus for miracles, but only a remnant stayed for truth.
When many walked away, the faithful few remained at His feet.
The end-time remnant those who endure. Revelation describes a remnant who keep the commandments of God. Hold the faith of Jesus. Do not bow to the world’s pressure. And overcome by the blood of the Lamb. This is the remnant Jesus gathers at His return.
Revelation 12:17
…the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
God uses the remnant to show what genuine devotion looks like when the world grows cold. The remnant is not saved by strength. The remnant is preserved by God’s hand.
The remnant becomes a witness. A living testimony that God still has a people.
Scripture teaches that in the last days many will grow cold. Many will be deceived. Many will fall away. Many will follow the crowd. But a remnant will remain faithful. Matthew 24:
This remnant will be marked by their
endurance, their faithfulness, their obedience, and their love for truth.
Romans 9:27
Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved.
All throughout the Bible, God keeps a small group of people who stay faithful to Him. They are called the remnant. They are not perfect. They are simply people who cling to God when others let go.
In these last days, we should all want to be part of that remnant. We should all want to hold fast. We should all want to stay faithful. And we should all be looking up for our King is coming.
Matthew 24:10-13- Jesus speaks of a the faithful, the ones who endure, in the last days. (a remnant that remains faithful and endures.)
Matthew 7:13-14- Jesus speaks of the narrow gate and the few- that find it.
(this is a remnant.)
“God always preserves those who remain in Him.” Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for the truth of the remnant.
Your faithful people whom You preserve through every generation.
Father, keep our hearts steady, devoted, and anchored in Your Word.
Strengthen us to stand firm when the world grows dark.
Let our homes be places of faith, obedience, and love.
Make us part of the remnant who hold fast until Your Son returns.
Guard us, guide us, and keep us in Your mercy.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
