“Perfectly Joined”
What does Scripture mean when it says we should be perfectly joined together…
(1 Corinthians 1:10)
“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
** Paul’s words in this scripture are to the church in Corinth, and this is not a casual suggestion. It is a heart-felt plea.
“perfectly joined together.”
** Paul is calling the believers to be repaired and woven together in unity, not just in outward agreement but in heart, purpose, and spiritual discernment.
** The church in Corinthians was fractured.
It was divided by loyalties to different leaders, puffed up by knowledge and distracted by worldly wisdom.
(similar to so many of us today.)
** Paul knew that such division would weaken their witness and distort the gospel. He knew they needed unity in order to reflect the very nature of Jesus Christ, who prayed that His followers would be one, just as He and His Father are one.
(John 17:20-23)
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [a]will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
** If we were united as Paul urged in 1 Corinthians and Jesus prayed in John….
** We would speak the same things in harmony and in truth. Our words would be rooted in Christ, and not in personal agendas or pride.There would be no divisions among us. No gossiping.
No tearing each other down.
We would be of the same mind and judgment. Seeking the Spirit’s wisdom together, not just relying on individual understanding.
** In our families, in our churches, and in our friendships, there would be intentional unity… that requires humility, forgiveness, and a shared pursuit of God, His Truth, and following the example Jesus laid before us.
** When we are joined together in Christ, we become a living testimony of His reconciling power.
Oh, how we should live our lives perfectly joined together.

Dear Father in heaven,
I come before You as Your child, praying for all my family and friends.
Father, may we long to reflect the unity of Your heart amoung each other.
Forgive us for the ways we all allow division to creep into our relationships.
Heal the places where pride, offense, or misunderstanding has torn us apart.
Mend us, Father, like nets restored for Your purpose.
Help us to speak with grace, listen with humility and discern with Your wisdom.
Let our minds be renewed by Your Word and our judgments shaped by Your Spirit.
Knit us together in love, that we may stand as one body, perfectly joined, bearing witness to Your glory.
Unite our hearts, Father, especially in our homes, in our churches, and among our sisters and brothers in Christ.
May we be known not for our differences but for our devotion to You and to one another.
