“Atonement”

Atonement is one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, the barrier of sin was removed, the debt was paid, and the way back to the Father was opened.

Atonement means we are brought back into fellowship.  We are at one with God again.

But atonement is not a license to continue in sin. It is not a covering for a life lived in rebellion. And it is not a blanket that excuses unrighteousness.

Atonement is a holy invitation. A call to turn from sin, to walk in obedience, and to live as redeemed sons and daughters.

Many say, “Jesus died for my sins,” and that is gloriously true.
But Scripture teaches that grace trains us to deny ungodliness, not embrace it.

“Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.” (Romans 6)

The blood of Jesus does not give us permission to live however we want.
It gives us power to live differently.

Atonement covers us when we have repented. When we have turned from sin. When we have been baptized.
When we are walking in obedience.
When we are seeking to live by God’s Word. Not perfectly, but sincerely.
Not flawlessly, but faithfully.

Atonement is not a “free pass.”
It is a new beginning. It is God saying:
“I have made a way for you. Now walk in it.”

Sin destroys fellowship. Sin hardens the heart. Sin blinds the eyes. Sin separates us from the presence we long for.

Jesus did not die so we could stay in bondage. He died to break bondage.
He did not die so we could remain in darkness. He died to bring us into light.
He did not die so we could live unchanged.
He died to transform us.

This is why Scripture says:
“Be holy, for I am holy.”
(1 Peter 1:16)
“Walk worthy of the calling.”
(Ephesians 4:1)
“Put off the old man.”
(Ephesians 4:22-24)
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice.”
(Romans 12:1-2)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
(John 14:15-31)

Atonement is the foundation. Obedience is the response. And transformation is the fruit. And our obedience is not bondage.
It is freedom. It is not heaviness. It is joy.
It is not legalism. It is love.

Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
Not to burden us, but to lead us into life. Obedience is the evidence that atonement has reached the heart. It is the outward sign of an inward change. And it is the fragrance of a life touched by grace.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4)
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”(Acts 3)
“He became the atonement for our sins.”  (Romans 5)
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12)
“Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5)

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for the gift of atonement, for the blood of Your Son Jesus that covers, cleanses, and restores.

Thank You for making a way for us to come home, even when we had wandered far.

Teach us to walk in obedience.

Teach us to turn from sin with sincere hearts.

Teach us to live as redeemed children who honor Your name.

Let Your Spirit guide our steps. Let Your Word shape our choices. Let Your presence be our greatest desire.

May we not want to take Your grace lightly.
May we not treat Your sacrifice casually.

May we want to live lives worthy of the One who died and rose again for us.

Draw us close and keep us faithful.
Strengthen us to walk in Your ways.

In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
