“Love, Sin, and Forgiveness”

The Bible tells us to love our brother:
Ist John 4:20
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen can not love God whom he has not seen.”

There are many more verses that speak on loving your brother/neighbor. We are even called to love our enemies, even those who hate us.
Matthew 5:43-44
You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.” But I tell you,”love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Yet, God does not want us to condone the sin of our brother/neighbors. As sin only leads to pain, distruction, and separation from God.
Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.
1 Timothy 5:22
Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.
Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,

But  God’s word says we are to pray for our brother, our neighbor..
Luke 6:28
Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
1 John 5:16
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death.
Romans 10:1
Bretheren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

When we condone someone’s sin, it may make them think we accept, approve, encourage, or even celebrate the sin, and that their sin is ok by God.

The Bible tells us that God does not delight in sin.
Psalm 5:4
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness, evil may not dwell with You.

God’s word does not tell us that ‘ we should hate the person’s sin,’ but it clearly says not to condone the sin.
Psalm 11:5
The Lord trieth the righteous, but the wicked and him who loveth violence He hates.

We will to some degree continue to struggle with sin throughout our lives, but God does not want us to actively seek out sin and condone it. And as read above sin separates us from God. So we are to love our brother/neighbor, and we are to pray for them and for their sin.

Then there’s Forgiveness. Jesus preached on forgiveness and repentance and this is what He said:
Luke 5:31-32
Jesus answered, “Those who are well have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Luke 15:10
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.

The apostal Peter spoke saying:
Acts 3:19
Repent, then, and turn to God, that your sins might be wiped out when the  times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

And God said at:
Eskiel 33:11
As I live, saith the LORD God,
“I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turns from his way and live.”

Finally, this is what scripture says about us continuing to sin after repenting.
Hebrews 10:26
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin.

We should love one another but never  condone the sin in our own lives or in the lives of others, for all sin has dire consequences, even for believers.

Always remember, our God is forgiving, and He loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for this beautiful Sunday morning. Thank You for my family and my friends. Father, I come before You, acknowledging the sin that resides in my own heart and in my life. I ask for Your forgiveness, Father, not only for myself, but for all of us who have fallen short of Your glory. Lead us to true repentance, that our hearts may be humbled and our lives transformed. Help us to walk in Your ways, living each day in a manner that is worthy of Your calling and pleasing to You. Guide each of us in our journey with You today, Father. May Your wisdom direct our steps, and may Your love fill our hearts. Protect us from the snares of the enemy, and grant us the strength to overcome temptation. Keep us close to You, ever abiding in Your presence. As we seek Your forgiveness and grace, we rejoice in Your promise to cleanse and renew us. May Your face shine upon us, Father, and be gracious to us. Lift up Your countenance upon us and grant us peace as we walk hand in hand with You.  In Your Son’s precious name. Amen

I never know exactly what I am going to write each morning. Sometimes, it is just a simple prayer. Other times, God puts a subject on my heart that I believe he wants me to share with all of you… and so I do.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
