“Are We Ready?”
Scripture tells us plainly that Jesus will return like a thief in the night, suddenly, unexpectedly, without warning. Not because God wants His Son to catch us in failure, but because He wants us to live awake, alert, and anchored in Him.
Matthew 24:36-44
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: obe will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will be coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
We are given signs to watch for, signs that whisper, “His return is near.” But the truth is, not all of us will live to witness that day.
Some will step into eternity in a moment they never saw coming.
A car accident. A heart attack.
A breath that simply… does not return.
And so the real question becomes deeply personal. If today were your last day on earth, are you ready?
Are you living in such a way that the next voice you hear would be the voice of Jesus saying:
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your LORD.”
(Matthew 25:23)
Or would you be caught off guard, unprepared, distracted, or spiritually asleep?
This is why readiness is not about fear.
It is about relationship.
It is about waking up each morning and speaking to our Father in heaven.
It is about walking through the day with a heart that stays soft, humble, and surrendered. It is about living each moment as if it were our last, not in panic, but in purpose. With No regrets. With No unfinished repentance. With No postponed obedience. With No “I will get right with God tomorrow.”
Just a steady, daily readiness that says:
“Father, whenever You call me, whether by trumpet or by final breath, I am ready and I am Yours.”
Because readiness is not about predicting the hour. It is about preparing our heart.
And when our hearts are right with God, we do not have to fear the unknown.
We look forward to the moment we finally see Our Savior’s face.
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for the gift of this day and the breath in our lungs.
Teach us to live awake, alert, and ready for the moment we meet Your Son face to face and dwell in Your presence.
Search our hearts and remove anything that keeps us distracted, distant, or unprepared.
Help us walk in repentance, in love, and in obedience, not out of fear, but out of devotion.
Let every sunrise remind us to speak with You, and every moment remind us to live for You.
Make us faithful servants, steady and surrendered, so that when our time comes whether suddenly or at Your Son’s return we will hear His voice saying, “Well done.”
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
