Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve
Joshua 24:14-15
Now therefore fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness.
Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Joshua’s words echo across generations. They are not merely a challenge, they are a line drawn in the sand.
No more wavering. No more divided loyalties. It is time to choose.
I once met a woman named Stacy at a women’s retreat. She had grown up in church, knew the hymns, and memorized verses but her heart was split.
She loved God and His Son, Jesus Christ, but she also clung to comfort, approval, and control.
“I was living with one foot in the kingdom and one foot in the world,” she confessed. “But the fence I was straddling began to crack.”
This happened when her teenage son spiraled into addiction. Her prayers felt powerless, and her faith felt shallow.
One night, she cried out, “God, I do not just want to believe in You. I want to belong to You. Fully. No more halfway.”
That night, she surrendered everything. Her fear, her pride, and her idols. And though her son’s journey was long, her own heart was transformed.
“I chose God,” she said, “and He chose me back with fire and mercy.”
Are any of us standing on that fence today? Maybe we have been attending church, reading devotionals, or even writing them but deep down, we know there’s a part of us holding back.
Maybe it is fear of what full surrender will cost us. Maybe it is weariness. Maybe it is comfort.
But the fence is not safe. It is not stable. And it is not holy ground.
God is not asking for perfection.
He is asking for your yes. Your whole yes. The kind that says, “Even if I stumble, I will stumble towards You.”
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Today I choose You, not just in word, but in heart, in action, and in devotion.
Father, may each of us who are ready, lay down every idol, every fear, every excuse.
May we step off the fence and into Your arms.
Forgive us for wavering. Heal the places where we have been divided and make our heart whole.
Let our lives echo Joshua’s declaration. “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Give us courage to stand, grace to follow, and love that burns brighter than compromise.
May we choose You every day, above all.
In Your Son’s precious name,
Amen.
Have a blessed day 🙏
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
