Tares between the Toes

Wheat and Tares Growing Together.
This was the message last night at church.

Scripture
Matthew 13:24–30, 36–43
“Let both grow together until the harvest…”

Jesus tells of a farmer who sows good seed in his field, but while everyone sleeps, an enemy sows tares (weeds) among the wheat.
When the servants notice, they ask if they should pull the tares up. The master says no, lest they uproot the wheat, too.
Instead, he instructs them to let both grow together until harvest, when the separation will be done.
Jesus explains that the field is the world, but we also see this dynamic within the church. Wheat and tares sit side by side in pews, serve in ministries, and even speak the name of Jesus. Yet only God knows the heart.

(We are not the judges.)

The servants wanted to uproot the tares immediately. But the Master forbids it. Why? Because in our zeal, we might misjudge and harm the wheat.
Only God sees the heart clearly.
Our role is not to separate but to grow faithfully.
Why do you think they are allowed to grow together? This is called mercy.
God delays judgment to give time for repentance. The presence of tares tests the wheat, refining our patience, love, and discernment. It also reveals our own hearts. Do we long for justice or for mercy?

This is the final separation.
Jesus says the angels will do the separating at the end of the age.

The wheat will be gathered into His barn, and the tares burned. This is not a threat.
It is a promise of justice and restoration.

In the end God, will make all things right.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

I pray we might all check our hearts daily and ask this question. Am I wheat or am I a tare? This is not a question of outward appearance but inward desire.

Do we hunger for righteousness? Do we grieve over sin? Do we love God’s truth, even when it convicts us? Do we bear fruit in keeping with repentance?

The wheat bends low under the weight of its grain. The tare stands tall and empty.

Humility is often the mark of the true.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Your Son is the sower of good seed, the righteous judge, and the Lord and King of the harvest.

Today, I ask that You search our hearts.
Are we wheat or tare?

If we have lived in pretense, forgive us.

If we have judged others wrongly, humble us.

If we have grown weary among the weeds, strengthen us.

Let our roots grow deep in You.

Let our fruit be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Let us not fear the presence of tares, but trust Your timing and Your justice.

Make us faithful in the field, gracious to our neighbor, and watchful for the harvest.

And when the angels come with our Lord and King, may we be found bowed low, heavy with grace, ready for Your barn, and
ready for Your glory.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen

Have a blessed day 🙏
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
