“Who do you say Jesus Is”

John 12:44-50
Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.  For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.  I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

From the beginning of Jesus ministry,
He invited people to wrestle with one essential truth, His identity.
Not who others said He was, not who culture assumed Him to be, but who He truly is. Revealed in God’s Truth.

Scripture gives us a beautiful clarity.
Jesus never claimed to be the Father or God. He consistently revealed Himself as the Son, sent by the Father, loved by the Father, and obedient to the Father.

He said, “I do nothing of Myself… I seek the will of the Father who sent Me”
John 5:19
And then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for what ever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
John 5:30
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent me.

Jesus prayed to His Father, submitted to His Father, and taught us to trust His Father.
He declared, “My Father is greater than I” John 14:28
You have heard Me say to you, “I am going away and coming back to you. If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, I am going to the Father, for My Father is greater than I.”
Matthew 26:36-46
Verse 39: “O My Father, if it is possible…”
Verse 42: “O My Father, if this cup…”

And after His resurrection He said, “I ascend to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God”
John 20:17
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father;
But go to My bretheren and say to them, “I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.”

Jesus is God’s only begotten Son.
Jesus Father is our Father, and Jesus has a God He serves – the same God we serve.

The disciples worshiped Him as “the Son of God.”
Matthew 16:16
Peter says, You are the Christ the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 14:33
After Jesus calmed the storm, the deciples in the boat said, “Truly You are the Son of God.”
John 1:49
Nathaniel said, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God.”
John 1:29
John the Baptist testified, “This is the Son of God.”
John 11:27
Martha confessed, “Yes Lord, I believe You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Luke 4:41
Even the demons cried out, “You are the Christ, the Son of God.”

And above all, God Himself spoke from heaven:
Matthew 3:16-17
Matthew 17:5
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

There are so many more Scriptures that I can not begin to list them all.

The Father identifies Him as His Son.
The Scriptures confirm Him as the Son of God, and the Spirit reveals Him as the Son of God.

But Jesus still turns to each of us and asks the same question He asked long ago:

“Who do you say that I am?”

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for revealing Your Son so clearly in Your Word.

Open our hearts to see Him as You have declared Him to be.

Your beloved Son, our Savior, our Redeemer, our soon‑coming King.

Remove every confusion, every false idea, and every distraction that keeps us from knowing Him in truth.

Let the testimony of Scripture settle deeply in us, and let our lives answer Your Son’s question with faith, love, and obedience.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
