“Grace for the Humble”

(Inspired by a post I saw on Facebook)

I came across a heartfelt message on Facebook today, and someone had also asked if I could do a devotional on Grace.

The words stirred something in me, so I took the core truth of what was shared on Facebook and reshaped the language, and wrote this devotional for those who need to be reminded of the beauty of God’s grace.

Because James 4:6 is not just a verse.
It is a doorway.

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Grace is not poured out on the person pretending they have no need for it.

Grace does not settle on the one defending every attitude, excusing every choice, or blaming every wound on someone else.

Grace comes to the one who finally stops performing.

Grace meets the heart that whispers, “Father, I was wrong.

”Grace rests on the person who can receive correction without turning it into a battle.

Grace strengthens the one who admits they do not have everything together.

Grace surrounds the one who would rather be changed by God than applauded by people.

Humility opens the door that pride keeps bolted shut.

Relentance is not feeling bad because consequences arrived. It is not crying today and protecting the same sin tomorrow.

Instead It is turning and stepping into the light. It is saying, “God, I do not want to live like this anymore.
”And that person, the one who turns and repents. The one who comes home is not met with harshness. They are met with mercy.

Some of us carry grief no one sees.
Some of us smile in public and collapse in private. Some of us feel like life has crushed something deep inside us.

Psalm 34 tells us the Lord is near to the broken hearted.

Our pain does not repel God. And our brokenness does not disqualify us.

Sometimes the place where we feel most shattered becomes the place where we finally see how close God has been all along.

God’s nearness. God’s Grace for the weary.

There are people who are simply tired.
Tired of fighting, tired of praying,
tired of waiting, tired of carrying responsibility, tired of being strong for everyone else.

Jesus did not say,
“Come to Me, all who have everything figured out.

”Jesus said,
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

”Rest is not earned. Rest is given.

God gives Grace to the Faithful and
Heaven sees what the world calls ordinary.

The one who keeps showing up. (Faithful)

The one who keeps obeying when it feels slow. (Faithful)

The one who keeps praying when the answer is still silent. (Faithful)

The one who keeps choosing God when emotions are uncooperative. (Faithful)

Faithfulness may look unnoticed on earth,
but heaven records every step.

Some want grace to excuse rebellion,
but true grace leads us out of rebellion.

Grace does not just forgive.
Grace trains. Grace strengthens and
Grace transforms.

Maybe we have wandered. Maybe we have ignored conviction. Maybe we have run from God longer than we want to admit.
Maybe we have wasted seasons. Maybe we have damaged relationships.
Or  maybe we have convinced ourselves there is just no way back.

But the Father still receives the returning child.

Grace is not God pretending sin was small.
Grace is God making a way for sinners to come home through His Son Jesus.

If we are proud—humble ourselves.
If we are hiding—step into the light.
If we are weary—come to God.
If we are broken—do not assume God is far.
If we have wandered—return.

Because God resists the proud.
But He gives grace to the humble.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for the grace that meets us in every condition. Broken, weary, repentant, faithful, or returning.

Teach us to walk in humility, to welcome Your correction, and to rest in Your mercy.

Draw near to every heart reading this today.

Heal what is wounded, lift what is weary, and restore what has been lost.

Help us turn toward You with honesty and surrender, trusting that Your grace is enough for every step ahead.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

James 4:6
But He gives more Grace.
Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
but gives Grace to the humble.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
