“God Manifest in the Flesh”
Scripture teaches that God was “manifest in the flesh” through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Not because Jesus is God, but because Jesus perfectly revealed, expressed, & obeyed His God/His Father the one who sent Him.
Our invisible God was made visible through the obedient life, teachings, miracles, & sacrificial love of His only begotten Son.
Colossians 1:15
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Meaning of Manifest is to make clear, visible, or evident, something inward becoming outward.
And this is exactly what Jesus did. He made our Father known, seen, understood, & revealed.
John 1:18
No one has seen God at any time; The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
John 14:9
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, & yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father, so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
Jesus is the perfect image of His Father. Jesus made our unseen God seen.
Scripture is consistent One God, one Mediator. One Father, one Son.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, & one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
John 14:28
You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
God is greater than His Son…
John 20:17
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.'”
Jesus has a God. Jesus has a Father.
Jesus is begotten. Jesus is not “God the Son.” He is the “Son of God.”
God was manifest through the work of His Son Jesus.
John 5:19
Then Jesus answered & said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.”
John 8:28
Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.”
John 4:34
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, & to finish His work.”
Every word Jesus spoke was the Father’s word.
John 14:24
…The word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s.”
John 8:38
…I speak that which I have seen with My Father.”
The Father was manifest through His Son’s teachings.
John 14:10
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, & the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father that dwells in Me does the works.
In every healing, every deliverance, every act of compassion Jesus was revealing His Father’s heart.
Jesus was the express image of God’s person.
Heb. 1:1-3
God, who at various times & in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory & the express image of His person, & upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Jesus reflected His Father perfectly.
Jesus prayed to God.
Showing relationship, not identity.
John 12:28
“Father, glorify Thy name.”
Luke 22:42
saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Your will be done.”
Jesus’ dependence revealed His Father’s supremacy.
Jesus is full of God’s glory & God’s grace because He received it.
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh & dwelt among us, & we beheld His glory, the
glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace & truth.
Our Father’s glory was manifest through His Son Jesus.
Jesus was begotten. Jesus was brought forth. Jesus was given.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
Jesus prayed at:
John 17:21-22
that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, & I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. & the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.
Jesus was speaking of a unity of purpose, will, and spirit… Not identity.
This is the oneness Jesus expressed at:
John 10:30
“I & My Father are one.”
God our Father was manifest in the flesh through His Son. Through the obedience of His Son. Through His Son’s teachings. Through the miracles done by His Son. Through the prayers of His Son. Through the glory given to His Son. Through
the life lived by His Son, & through the death & resurrection of His Son.
Jesus Christ made our invisible God visible by being the perfect image of His Father.
One God – the Father.
One Mediator – the Son.
Oh, how God loves us, that He gave His only begotten Son ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
I thank You for revealing Yourself through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
Through His obedience, His compassion, His teachings, His miracles, and His sacrifice, You made Your heart known to us.
You showed us Your love, Your mercy, Your holiness, and Your truth.
Thank You for sending Your only begotten Son, our Savior, our King, our Mediator,
who leads us to You, who teaches us Your ways, and who shows us Your character.
Help us walk as He walked, help us love as He loved, and help us obey as He obeyed.
May You be manifest in our lives
as You were manifest in His.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
