“Love”

1 Corinthians 13:

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

This is beautiful Scripture…

When I read this passage, I see my own life woven through its words. I have worn many roles- caregiver, mentor, writer, encourager.

I have poured myself out for family, for ministry, for those God places in my path. But God reminds me here in these passages that none of it carries eternal weight unless love is the core of it.

There have been seasons where I was busy doing, serving, fixing, helping… yet inside I was tired, stretched thin, or even frustrated. And the Spirit gently showed me:

Brenda, without love, even your good works lose their fragrance. They become noise- like a clanging cymbal.

I do not want people to see me, my efforts, or my strength.

I want them to see the God who lives in me. I want God’s love to be what pours out especially in the moments when I feel worn down, overlooked, or stretched beyond myself.

Because love is patient when I am not. Love is kind when my flesh wants to react. Love keeps me grounded, humble, and steady.

This passage reminds me that love is not just an emotion. It is the evidence of the Spirit of God living in me. It is the difference between doing things for God and letting God work through me.

And without that love, everything else my gifts, my knowledge, my sacrifices loses its meaning.

So my prayer is that every word I write, every act of care I give, every conversation I have, reflects God. Not me.

God’s love, not my strength. God’s character, not my personality.

Because the greatest of all things above faith, above hope, is love.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for reminding me that love is the foundation of everything You call me or any of us to do.

Father, let Your love be the wellspring of our words, our actions, our ministry, and our daily life.

Remove anything in us that sounds like a clanging cymbal, and replace it with the gentle, steady rhythm of Your Spirit.

Teach us to love patiently, kindly, humbly, and truthfully.

Let those around us see not our efforts, but Your heart shining through us.

Shape us into a vessel that carries Your love into every room, and every conversation.

May faith guide us, may hope anchor us, but may love be the greatest thing that flows from our life.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
