“Rooted, Strengthened, and Loved Beyond Measure”

Ephesians 3:14-19
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Paul’s words in this passage are not complicated. They are foundational, and they are life‑defining.

Paul is reminding believers who they are, what they have been given, and what God desires to work inside them.

Everything in this passage flows from four truths.

1st
Paul says we are rooted and grounded in love—God’s love.

Love is the soil we grow from.
Love is the foundation we stand on.
And Love is the atmosphere we breathe in.

This is not our love for God.
This is God’s love for us.

And when we forget this, everything else becomes unstable in our life.
Yet, when we remember this, everything else becomes possible in our life.

2nd
Paul prays that God would strengthen us from the inside out.

Not with human strength. Not with emotional strength. Not with willpower.

But with His Spirit, the very breath and power of God working in the deepest part of us.

This is the strength that holds us when life shakes us. This is the strength that keeps us standing when our own strength is gone.

Strength through the Spirit is essential.
It is how we endure. It is how we grow, and it is how we walk with God.

3rd
Christ dwells in our hearts through faith.
This is the center of this passage.

Christ does not visit us. He dwells in us.

He makes His home in the hearts of  those who believe.

Christ dwelling in us is not symbolic.
It is not poetic. It is a spiritual reality.

The Son of God lives in the heart of those who believe. And where Christ dwells, everything changes.

4th
His love can not be measured.

Paul reaches for language big enough to describe Christ love and even then, he admits it passes knowledge.

(Christ love is the Father’s love revealed.)

John 15:9
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you.”

John 3:16
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.”

The width.
The length.
The depth.
The height.

These are not measurements.
They are invitations.

Invitations to explore a love that has no edges.

A love that can not be exhausted.
A love that can not be outgrown.
A love that can not be fully understood.

We can not measure it, and we can not comprehend it fully.

But we can fully experience it.
We can fully receive it.
We can fully rest in it.
And we can fully be transformed by it.

This is what Paul is saying:

We are planted in love.
We are strengthened by the Spirit.
Christ lives in our heart through faith.
And His love is beyond anything we can measure.

This is who we are.
This is what God has done.
And this is the life He invites us into.

Not fear. Not striving. Not uncertainty.
Not “Yeah, but…”

Just love. Just faith. Just God, Just believing in His Son Jesus Christ.
Just fullness.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Root us deeply in Your love.

Let our lives be grounded in the truth of who You are and who we are in You.

Strengthen us in the inner man by Your Spirit.

Let Christ dwell richly in our hearts through our faith.

Open our understanding to the greatness of His love. Your love revealed through Him.

A love too wide, too long, too deep, too high for our minds to measure.

Let us experience it.

Let us rest in it, and let us be transformed by it.

Fill us Father, with all Your fullness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
