“When Grace Steps Into the Room”

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are verses in Scripture that feel like a warning, and others that feel like a warm embrace.

Romans 6:23 is both. It is a mirror and a doorway. It shows us what sin earns, and then shows us what God gives.

The Wages of Sin – is what we earn without God. Sin pays a wage. It always has.
Not a momentary consequence, not a slap on the wrist but a wage. Something earned. Something inevitable.
And sin’s wage is death: the slow drying-up of joy, the loss of peace, the distance we feel from God, and the inward ache that comes from living life on our own terms.

Sin destroys because it is destructive by nature. It does not need permission.
It does not need time. It simply pays what it owes.

But God does something astonishing.
God interrupts the paycheck.

The Gift of God – is what we receive through Christ. In contrast, eternal life is not a wage. It is not earned. It is not deserved. It is a gift – freely given, lovingly offered,  and fully purchased by Christ.

Where sin pays death, God gives life.
And not just life someday in Paradise
but life now: in restored fellowship, renewed hope, a clean conscience, a heart made new, and a future secured in Christ.

Salvation is not a transaction.
It is a miracle of grace.

Every believer knows what it feels like to carry the weight of old wages, old habits, old guilt, old ways of thinking.
But Romans 6:23 reminds us that we do not live under that paycheck anymore.

We live under a gift. And this gift must be received daily.

This is why Paul says, “I die daily.”
Not because he was morbid,
but because he knew that life in Christ requires a daily surrender of the old self.

We die daily to: pride, bitterness, self-reliance, hidden sin, and the desire to run our own lives.

And as we die to these things, we rise into the life Christ gives.

This verse comforts the weary because grace is still offered. It warns the wandering because sin still pays death.
And it lifts the humble because God still gives life.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

Thank You for rescuing us from the wages of sin.

Thank You for the gift of eternal life through Your Son.

Help us walk in that life daily, choosing Your ways, receiving Your grace,
and living in the freedom Christ purchased.

Let this truth settle deeply in our hearts
and overflow into our words, our homes, and our ministry to others.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
