“Use Your Words for Healing, Not of Harm”
I seen this message about lies on a friend’s post today and thought it would make a beautiful study.
Truth has always mattered to God.
From the beginning, His Word has been the standard of what is real, trustworthy, and life‑giving.
When Jesus described Satan as “the father of lies” at John 8:44,
He was not simply warning us about the enemy. He was showing us the spiritual weight of every word we speak.
Lies do not just distort facts.
They distort relationships. They erode trust. They plant suspicion, and they create distance where God desires closeness. This is why the ninth commandment,
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” is not just a rule about courtroom honesty. It is a call to reflect God’s character in the way we speak every day.
False witness is not limited to bold, deliberate lies. It can slip into our lives quietly through exaggeration, gossip, half‑truths, assumptions, repeating something we did not verify, and staying silent when someone is being misrepresented.
Even small distortions can cause real harm. A careless word can bruise a heart. A whispered rumor can stain a reputation. A shaded truth can fracture trust that took years to build.
God calls His people to something better.
When we speak truthfully, we are not just avoiding sin. We are actively participating in God’s healing work.
Truth spoken in love protects the vulnerable, defends the misrepresented, restores what lies have damaged, strengthens relationships, and builds peace instead of suspicion.
Truth is not harshness. It is not bluntness without compassion. Truth is clarity wrapped in love, spoken with the intention to build up, not to tear down.
Reflecting the God Who Never Lies
God never deceives. God’s words are always faithful, always trustworthy, always aligned with His character.
When we choose honesty, even when it costs us something we are choosing to look like children of God.
Our words become a testimony.
Our integrity becomes a light.
Our speech becomes a place where others feel safe.
This is how our words become instruments of healing instead of harm.
I have to ask God often to please help me shape my words before they ever reach my tongue.
Sometimes I ask just in time.
And Sometimes my heart breaks because I didn’t.
God sees me, He knows me, and He shows me how to take my wrong and make it right.
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for being a God who never lies and never misleads.
Pleaee shape our hearts so that our words reflect Your Truth and Your Love.
Soften in us what needs softening.
Strengthen in us what needs courage.
And silence in us what does not reflect You.
Guard us from exaggeration, gossip, or anything that harms another person.
Teach us to speak with honesty, gentleness, and courage.
Let our voice defend the vulnerable, protect the misrepresented, and build peace where there has been hurt.
Make our words a source of healing, restoration, and life.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
