“Do We Worship Like No One’s Watching”
The question is simple, but it cuts deep:
Do we worship, obey, and honor God the same way when no one is watching as we do when people are?
This is not about perfection. It is about truth. It is about integrity before the LORD the kind that is the same in public and in private.
Jesus said, Matthew 10:32-33
“Whoever acknowledges Me before men, I will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will deny before My Father who is in heaven.”
This is not only about verbal denial. It is about living a life that contradicts the faith we claim to have.
Many people can appear devoted when eyes are on them.
But the real test of devotion is found in the quiet places:When no one hears our words. When no one sees our choices. When no one knows our thoughts.
And when no one is there to applaud our obedience.
The question becomes: Are we living the life we speak of to others? Or do we only live it when someone is watching?
Jesus also said, Matthew 12: 36-37
“But I say to you, “that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.” “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Every word- spoken in front of people or whispered behind closed doors- will be brought into the light.
Not to shame us. Not to crush us.
But to reveal truth.
We will stand “naked,” spiritually exposed, before the One who sees all.
And in that moment, His judgment will be perfectly just because nothing will be hidden.
Our actions in public and in private are seeds. Some grow into righteousness.
And some grow into compromise.
God sees both.
God is not fooled by performance.
God is not impressed by outward religion.
God is moved by our genuine devotion.
In Revelation 3:15-16 Jesus is speaking to the Church of Laodicea about three spiritual temperatures.
Hot- burning with sincere love and obedience.
Cold- openly rejecting Him.
Lukewarm- comfortable, casual, half-hearted.
Lukewarm is the most dangerous because it feels safe. It feels just “good enough.”
It feels just religious enough, but it lacks relationship.
Lukewarm faith is often the kind that changes depending on who is watching.
This study was not meant to condemn.
It was meant to awaken.
God is inviting us to examine ourselves.
Our worship. Our words. Our habits.
Our private life. Our motives.
And our spiritual temperature.
Not to shame us, but to purify us.
Not to expose us, but to heal us.
Not to frighten us, but to draw us closer.
Living a life acceptable to God is not perfect. It is daily surrender. It is daily honesty. It is daily consistency. It is daily humbling. It is being willing to be corrected daily. And it is willing to be seen by God exactly as we are every day.
The question for each of us today becomes: Are we living a life that is acceptable before our God and for our God, in public and in private?
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Search our hearts today.
Expose anything in us that is lukewarm, divided, or inconsistent.
Teach us to worship You with sincerity when no one is watching and with boldness when people are.
Purify our words in public and private.
Purify our actions seen and unseen.
Make our lives whole, honest, and aligned with Your Truth.
We do not want to deny You in any way.
We want to honor You with every breath.
May our hearts be set on fire for You.
Make us hot, devoted, and faithful.
And when we stand before Your Son, let our lives testify that we walked with You in truth so we may hear those words “Well done.”
