“Our Identity”

At the core, every believer is simply a servant of God and a follower of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Titles like Christian, follower of the Way, Sabbath keeper, Baptist, Pentecostal, Seventh Day Adventist, or Non‑Denominational are attempts to describe how we live out our faith but none of them replace who we truly belong to.

Isaiah 44:5 shows this beautifully:
“One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob… and surname himself by the name of Israel.

”People have always used names to express belonging. But the belonging itself is what matters- not the label.

Believers use titles for several reasons:
To describe doctrine- (Sabbath keeper, non‑Trinitarian, holiness movement, etc.) To describe community or tradition
(Baptist, Pentecostal, Adventist)
To describe emphasis (Spirit-filled, evangelical, Messianic)
To describe identity (“I am the Lord’s,”
“I follow Jesus,” “I am God’s servant”)

None of these titles are wrong in themselves. They become harmful only when they become walls instead of windows.

Jesus prayed for unity:
John 17:21
“That they all may be one; as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You…

”But the enemy works to divide:
through pride, through tradition, through arguing over non‑salvation issues, through elevating labels above love, and through thinking “my group is better than yours.”

Paul warned about this:
1 Corinthians 1:12–13
“Every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos… Is Christ divided?”

The early church already struggled with
“I follow this teacher” or “I follow that teacher.”

Paul’s answer was simple:
Christ is not divided.

We give ourselves titles because we try to describe our faith- our beliefs, our practices, and our communities.

But titles were never meant to divide us.

God calls us His people.
Jesus calls us His disciples.
And they both call us to unity.

When we elevate labels above love, we fall into the enemy’s plan of division.

But when we follow God with our whole heart, letting His Word and Spirit lead us, we become one, just as the Father and the Son are one in purpose, love, and truth.

Oh, how God loves us that He gave His only begotten Son ❤️

Dear Father in heaven,

You alone are God, and Jesus Christ is Your Son, our Savior and Mediator.

Teach us to lay down the labels that divide and to take up the identity that unites Your servants, Your children, Your people.

Heal the fractures in Your body.

Remove pride, soften hearts, and restore the unity Jesus prayed for.

Lead each of us by Your Spirit into truth, humility, and love.
May our lives honor You, and may our fellowship reflect the unity between You and Your Son.

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
