“For God So Loved the World”
The apostle John writes with a shepherd’s heart – steady, tender, & full of certainty. His words are not theories or distant memories. They are eyewitness testimony. He reminds us that the One who was from the beginning stepped into our world, was seen, heard, touched, & revealed as the Word of Life. Everything John declares flows from his living encounter with Jesus Christ.
1John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life – the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us – that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
1John 2:24-25 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us – eternal life.
1John 3:7-8 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
1John 4:1-4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world
1John 4:8-10 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1John 4:12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
1John 4: 14-15 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1John 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
1John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. 5) Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
1John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
All these passages from 1John & John’s Gospel circle around one radiant truth.
God’s love is not distant, theoretical, or fragile. God’s love is manifested, revealed, embodied, & offered in His Son.
And at the center of it all stands the unchanging declaration:
“For God so loved the world…”
Not because we loved Him, not because we were worthy, but because He is love,
& He sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. This is the testimony. This is the promise. This is the life. This is the victory. And this is the love that can not be measured or diminished.
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
And how safe we are in that love.
Dear Father in heaven,
Father, I thank You for the truth revealed in these Scriptures. I thank You for sending Your Son, the Word of Life, the Savior of the world, the One who destroys the works of the devil and brings us into fellowship with You. Let Your Word abide in us. Let Your love be perfected in us. Let Your Spirit give us discernment, courage, and righteousness. Strengthen our faith so that we overcome the world, and keep our hearts anchored in the promise of eternal life that You have given us in Your Son.
May our joy be full, our testimony be faithful, and our lives reflect the love You have poured out so freely.
In Jesus’ holy name, Amen men.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
