“A Life God Used”
I was reminded in a message from a friend about the story of David in the Bible & that prompted this study today.
David’s story shows that God does not choose the flawless. God chooses the willing. God forms vessels out of shepherd boys, overlooked sons, musicians, warriors, repentant sinners, & worshipers.
What God looks for is not perfection, but a heart turned toward Him.
David’s story begins in the fields, not the palace. David learned quiet faithfulness tending sheep. David learned courage protecting the flock from lions and bears. David learned loneliness, which later became worship. David learned responsibility, which prepared him for leadership. “Wow”
God often starts His greatest work in hidden places. Where others saw “the youngest,” God saw a king.
Before David ever held a sword, he held a harp. David’s worship brought peace to king Saul. David’s music carried the presence of God. David’s obedience in small tasks prepared him for larger ones.
This reminds us that God uses soft gifts such as music, kindness, service, & encouragement to accomplish mighty things.
David was sent by Jesse to deliver bread & cheese to his brothers. Just an errand.
Just a small task. But his obedience in the small things led him to the battlefield where God would reveal His power.
Sometimes the path to our calling looks ordinary. But God is already positioning us.
David faced Goliath not with armor, but with faith. David trusted God’s present power. And David stepped forward when others stepped back.
God will use those who will stand when He says stand.
David became a mighty warrior, but his strength was never his own. Scripture says: “The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.” David’s battles were not for personal glory. They were for God’s people, God’s name, & God’s purposes.
David was not perfect. David was not spotless. David was not without failure.
But David was chosen, and he was willing.
Many of the Psalms came from David’s deepest places. Praise, Fear, Sorrow, Repentance, Worship, and Trust.
God used David’s voice to give language to our own hearts.
David committed adultery. David committed murder. David failed as a father.
And David made decisions that cost lives.
But David did something many never do.
He owned his sin. He repented.
And he returned to God.
This is why God called him “A man after My own heart.” Not because he was perfect, but because he always came back.
This is the message today.
God uses the smallest, the weakest, the flawed, and the broken, when we make ourselves open, vulnerable, and willing.
David was known by many titles.
But God called him “My own.”
And that is the desire I carry. To be called, “His own.”
As another dear friend said that God was in control and that they were surrendering to a season of sitting with themselves and healing in Gods Word. Fall 2026 a season of stillness.
My heart echoes David’s heart…
“If You can use anything, LORD, You can use me.” So I am encouraged to take this Fall 2026 as I am able to study, read God’s Word, pray, share with all of you, and to just sit in God’s stillness while He takes care of all the deeper places.
My desire is to be a life God uses and to be called, “His own”
“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” Acts 13:22
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for the life of David.
A reminder that You choose the humble, the willing, and the repentant.
Thank You for showing us that our flaws do not disqualify us when our hearts remain turned toward You.
Make us vessels You can use open, surrendered, consecrated, and obedient.
Shape our desires, our steps, our words, and our days so that Your will is done in us and through us.
Let our lives testify that we loved You, served You, and sought Your heart above all else.
Use us, Father, for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
