“If Today Was the Day”

There are many conversations in the Body of Christ about the timing of Jesus’ return.
pre‑tribulation, mid‑tribulation, or post‑tribulation.

But Scripture reminds us that the exact timing is not what saves us.

It is not the calendar that prepares us. It is the condition of our hearts.

Matthew 24:42
“For you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.”

Jesus Himself said His return would be like a thief in the night.

Unexpected, unannounced, and impossible to predict.

And while we do see signs today that point to His soon return, the truth remains.

Not everyone will live to see that day.

Some will sadly pass of an illness, a heart attack, an accident, or a final breath that comes without warning.

And in that moment, the question will not be When will Jesus return?

The question will be.
Was I ready to meet Him?

Because whether we rise from the grave at His call or we are caught up from this life in an instant, the next voice we hear will be His. The next moment we experience will be in His presence.

So the real preparation is not about charts or timelines.
It is about daily surrender.

It is about waking up each morning and asking ourselves:

“Father, if today is my day, am I ready?”

It is about walking through the trials and temptations of this life with the awareness that every reaction we have, every choice we make, and every word we speak is shaping the testimony we will lay at our Saviors feet.

It is about ending each night able to say:
“I lived today in a way I pray  honors You.”

Not perfectly.
Not without struggle.
But faithfully.

Because readiness is not about knowing the hour.
It is about living in such a way that whenever the hour comes, whether by breath or by trumpet, we will hear the words we should all be longing to hear:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

So before we close our eyes tonight, can we honesty ask that question with peace?

And before we react to the  trials of our day, can we pause and ask:
“Will this response honor our God?”

This is the kind of  readiness that matters.

This is the preparation that lasts.

This is the life that pleases our Father.

Oh, how God loves us…

Dear Father in heaven,

Teach us to live with eternity in our hearts.

Help us to walk each day in readiness, not out of fear, but out of love for You.

Search us, refine us, and remove anything that would keep us unprepared for the moment we meet Your Son face to face.

Whether our final breath comes today or many years from now, let our lives be found faithful.

Strengthen us to respond to trials with grace, to walk in obedience, and to live with the awareness that every moment is a gift.

Prepare our hearts so that when we stand before Your Son, we will hear the words, “Well done.”

In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.

Have a blessed day
God loves you
and so do I
