“This Gospel”
Matthew 24:14
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
When Jesus spoke these words, He was not introducing a new message.
He was pointing back to the same gospel He had already been preaching from the
beginning of His ministry. The gospel of the kingdom, the gospel of the Father’s mercy and grace, and the gospel of His identity as the Son of God.
This is the gospel that must go into all the world.
1. The gospel begins with who Jesus is.
Jesus never preached Himself as “God the Son.” He preached Himself as the Son of God, sent by the Father.
John 10:36
“…I said, I am the Son of God.”
Matthew 3:17
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
The gospel begins with identity that the Father sent His only begotten Son
to reveal His heart, His mercy, His truth, and His coming kingdom.
To preach the gospel is to proclaim the Son
and to honor the Father who sent Him.
2. The gospel reveals the Father’s mercy and grace.
Every parable Jesus taught carried the fragrance of the Father’s mercy.
The Prodigal Son shows the Father running toward the repentant.
The Lost Sheep shows His determination to rescue.
The Good Samaritan shows His compassion toward the broken.
The Unforgiving Servant shows His desire to extend mercy, not judgment.
Jesus’ teachings were not cold doctrines.
They were windows into the Father’s heart.
John 1:17
“…grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
The gospel that must be preached is a gospel of grace, because it reveals the Father’s love through His Son.
3. The gospel announces the kingdom to come.
From the very beginning-
Matthew 4:23
“Jesus went about… preaching the gospel of the kingdom.”
Every parable about seeds, fields, vineyards, servants, talents, and kings
was pointing toward the coming kingdom of God- a real kingdom, with a real king,
where righteousness, peace, and truth will reign.This kingdom is the hope of the gospel.
It is the inheritance of the faithful.
It is the promise given to all who believe in the Son of God.
4. The gospel calls us to prepare our hearts.
If this gospel is going into all the world,
then it must first go deeply into our own hearts.
Are we ready to meet our king?
Are our lives holy and acceptable before Him? Are our words seasoned with grace?
Are our hearts aligned with the Father’s will?
2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith…”
This is not a message of fear. It is a message of invitation.
Today is the time to walk in mercy, truth, and obedience. Today is the time to prepare our hearts for the kingdom to come. Today is the time to live as children of the Father and followers of His beloved Son.
The gospel that will be preached in all the world is…The truth that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. The revelation of the Father’s mercy and grace. The promise of the kingdom to come.
This is the gospel Jesus preached.
This is the gospel the apostles carried.
And this is the gospel we should still be proclaiming today.
Oh, how God loves us that He gave His only begotten Son, that who so ever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.❤️
Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Dear Father in heaven,
Thank You for sending Your only begotten Son, the One who revealed Your mercy, Your truth, and Your love.
Thank You for the gospel of the kingdom to come… a message of hope, restoration, and eternal life.
Help us to carry this gospel with clarity and courage.
Purify our hearts, steady our steps, and strengthen our faith as we prepare to meet our King.
Let our lives be a witness to Your grace
and to the truth that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
