Praising God Through the Storm
A simple study for those learning to trust God in every season.
It is easy to praise God when life feels good. When prayers are answered, when blessings are visible, and when peace fills the room. But God does not change when our circumstances change.
His love, His power, and His faithfulness stay the same in sunshine and in storms.
Because of that, He is worthy of praise even when life hurts.
Many believe that storms mean God is angry or far away. But the Bible shows us something different.
Storms grow our faith. Storms teach us to depend on God. Storms reveal what we can not see in calm weather, and Storms prepare us for the next season.
James taught that the testing of our faith is not wasted. It develops perseverance, and perseverance grows us into people who lack nothing spiritually.
James 1:2-4
My bretheren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith, produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you might be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
God promises to be with us through the waters and the fire.
Isaiah 43:2
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
A storm is not a sign that God has left us. It is often the place where we will find Him when we look beyond the clouds.
When we only focus on the pain, we miss the purpose. When we only look at the wind, we miss the One who can make the wilderness shake.
Psalm 29:8
The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
Every storm carries a lesson patience, trust, humility, strength, compassion,
deeper prayer, and a new understanding of God’s character. Storms shape us in ways comfort never could.
Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that to everything there is a seasons, not all of them easy, but all of them meaningful.
We may not understand the season we are in. We may not like it, and we may not feel God in it. But God is working in ways we can not see yet.
So praise Him, because-
Our praise is a weapon in the storm.
Our praise does not deny the storm.
And our praise declares that the storm does not have the final word.
Paul and Silas praised God at midnight in prison. Their worship shook the foundations, opened doors, and broke their chains. Praise became their breakthrough.
Acts 16:25-26
But at midnight Paul and Silas were were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
When we praise God in the middle of the struggle, in the middle of our storms, we are saying.
“Father, God, I trust You. You are bigger than this storm. You are good even when life is not, and I know You will bring me through this.” I love You.”
Our faith is not seeing the blessings.
It is believing the blessing is coming because our God is faithful.
So, we-
Thank God before the healing.
Thank God before the breakthrough.
Thank God before the answer.
Thank God even when we can not feel it. Thank God even when we can not see it. Thank God even when we can not understand it. And Thank God when the peace returns.
In the book of Habakkuk when there was no fruit, no harvest, no visible blessing, the prophets said, “Yet, I will rejoice in the LORD”
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls.
Yet, I will rejoice in the LORD. I will joy in the God of my salvation.
This is praise and thanksgiving in advance.
In the book of John before Lazarus was raised from the dead Jesus prayed,
“Father, I thank You, that You have heard Me.”
John 11:41
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said,”Father, I thank You, that You have heard Me.”
Yes, Jesus, thanked God, before the miracle happened.
This kind of praise will move mountains.
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
Teach us to praise You not only when life feels light, but also when the clouds gather.
Help us trust that every storm has a purpose and every season has meaning.
Give us eyes to see the lessons You are shaping in us, and hearts that stay steady in Your love.
We place our storms in Your hands today. Every fear, every burden, every unknown.
Thank You for the blessings that are already on the way, even if we can not see them yet.
Strengthen our faith, calm our hearts, and let Your peace carry us through.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
