“Perfectly United”
I shared this awhile back and was asked if I could share it again.
1 Corinthians 1:10
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
*Denominations were never God’s design. They are man-made labels that have fractured the body of Christ into camps, doctrines, and walls.
What began as sincere efforts to preserve truth or practice faith has often led to exclusion, pride, and confusion.
Instead of one flock following one Shepherd, we now see many flocks, each claiming to be the truest.
I would think that this division grieves the heart of God because His Word never called us to build separate towers of belief.
He called us to walk together in love, truth, and obedience.
Ephesians 4:4-5
There is one body and one Spirit.
Just as you were called in one hope of your calling. One LORD, one faith, one baptism.
*Yet today, we often hear,
“I’m Baptist,”
“I’m Pentecostal,”
“I’m non-denominational,”
as if these titles define our identity more than being a follower of Christ Jesus.
But Scripture never taught us to wear labels. It taught us to bear fruit.
*Unity is not uniformity.
It is not about agreeing on every detail.
It is about being joined in purpose, in love, and in submission to God’s Trurh.
It is about laying down pride and picking up the towel of service.
It is about recognizing that the person who worships differently is still your brother or sister if they follow the same LORD.
Ephesians 4:3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
*Unity looks like humility.
It sounds like grace, and it feels like family.
*Division weakens our witness.
It confuses the seeker, and distracts the believer.
*When we argue over doctrine instead of living out the gospel, we trade the power of love for the pride of being right.
Galations 5:15
If you bite and devour each other, watch out, or you will be destroyed by each other.
*The enemy rejoices when the church is divided.
*But heaven rejoices when we forgive, reconcile, and walk hand in hand.
I pray that we will return to the simplicity of the gospel. I pray that we will be known not by our denomination but by our devotion.
I pray that we will be a people who love God’s Word.
Obeys God’s Word, and
Lives God’s Word together.
John 13:35
By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
May we be one, just as Jesus prayed we would be.
John 17:20-23
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one.
Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.
I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as We are one.
I in them and You in Me, so that they may be brought to complete unity.
Then the world will know that You have sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved me.
** I stopped identifying myself by a denomination years ago, and I began seeking fellowship not with those who agreed with me but with those who loved God.
I have found in my walk with God that unity is not found in doctrine alone.
It is found in humility, grace, and in the shared pursuit of God’s Truth.”
Oh, how God loves us ❤️
Dear Father in heaven,
I come before You with a repentant heart.
I pray we may each acknowledge that we have in different ways allowed division to take root where You planted unity.
Father, forgive us for the pride, the labels, the walls we have built.
Tear them down, Father, and build in us a spirit of peace, humility, and love.
Help us to see one another as You see us.
Redeemed, beloved, and called to walk together.
Let Your Word be our foundation, not our denomination.
Let Your love be our banner, not our doctrine.
Heal Your church, Father, and unite Your people.
Make us one in heart, one in purpose, and one in obedience.
May we surrender our titles and take up Your name.
In Your Son’s precious name, Amen.
Have a blessed day 🙏
God loves you ❤️
and so do I ❤️
