“Who Jesus Died For”

I had someone ask who did Jesus die for and why His death was not for satan and the fallen angels also.

I would like to try and share with all of you the answer as I understand it.

Scripture says:
Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. His sacrifice is big enough, powerful enough, and loving enough to cover every human being who has ever lived.

But Scripture also teaches something equally important:
Only those who believe, repent, and receive Him are saved.

I hope this devotional will help my readers understand:
*What “Jesus died for all” really means.
*Why fallen angels and satan are not included in that “all”
*Why salvation is offered to humanity alone.
*And how God’s mercy and justice work together.

1. Jesus’ death is sufficient for all humanity.
John 3:16 tells us:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

(Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient for every human, but it becomes effective only for those who believe.)

This is why Scripture says:
1 John 2:2
“He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”

(Jesus’ death is enough to save every person but salvation is received through faith and repentance.)

2. Jesus did not die for satan or the fallen angels.

This is the part many people wonder about:

If Jesus died for “all,” why are the fallen angels not included?

Scripture gives us clarity.
A. Jesus took on human nature not angelic nature.
Hebrews 2:16–17 says:
“For surely it is not angels that He helps, but He helps the offspring of Abraham.”

(Jesus became fully human to save humans.)

*He did not become an angel.
*He did not take on their nature.
*And He did not die for their redemption.

B. Fallen angels are judged, not redeemed.
2 Peter 2:4 says:
“For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell…”

(These angels judgment is final.
There is no second chance offered to them.)

3. Why don’t fallen angels get a second Chance?

While Scripture does not give us every detail, it gives us enough to understand the big picture.

A. The fallen angels sinned with full knowledge.
*They lived in God’s presence.
*They saw His glory.
*They knew His holiness.
*They understood His authority.
*They lived with perfect knowledge.
*They stepped outside thier boundaries.
*They rebelled.

*And they are now restrained and awaiting judgment, not salvation.

*Their rebellion was not done in weakness, confusion, or immaturity. It was a willful, deliberate rejection of God.

B. Their choices were permanent.

Unlike humans, angels do not die, they do not reproduce, and do not grow or change over time.

(Even though we can read in Genesis that angels came and were with women and produced offspring.  *** It was not that they could not reproduce but that they were not created to reproduce.)

*So they did something they were never meant to do. They crossed boundaries that God never thought they would cross. (Free Will)

*Their decision was made with full awareness — and it was final.

C. God is merciful — but He will not be mocked.

*God did not desire their destruction.
And He does not desire that any of us perish in our sin.

Jude adds:
They did not stay within thier own position of authority, but left thier proper dwelling.

*God’s Love does not erase justice.
*God’s Mercy does not cancel holiness.
*And free will does not remove consequences.

*They chose their future.

4. Humanity’s story is different.

We as humans sin from weakness, not from perfect knowledge.

*We were born into a fallen world.
*We struggle.
*We are tempted.
*And we are limited.

(So God, in His mercy, made a way for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.)

Salvation is:
*By grace
*Through faith

Not by works (Ephesians 2:8–9)

And it begins with repentance.
Acts 3:19 says:
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”

Jesus died for us because we needed saving and because God wanted to save us.

5. So what does this mean for us?

It means:
*Jesus’ arms are open to every human being.
*Salvation is available to all who believe.
*No one is too far gone.
*No sin is too deep.
* And No past is too broken.

(But salvation is not automatic.
It must be received.)

*Jesus died for the world, and He saves those who come to Him in faith and repentance.

*The angels rebellion and satan’s was so severe they knew the final out come.
Scripture teaches that the fallen angels are being held for judgment, not forgivness.

This is fully supported by:
2 Peter 2:4
Hebrews 2:16
Jude 1:6
Matthew 25:41
Revelation 20:10

Also read:
Genesis 3:15
Revelation 12:9
Ezekiel 28:17-19

*Jesus did not die for angels and He certainly did not die for (satan) the one who led the rebellion against God.

*Jesus atonement is for humans alone.

Oh, how God loves us ❤️
